Election season is upon the United States again and if you curious about what ails American society. There is no better sociological study of American society than "The Wire". "The Wire" is a gripping television drama on HBO that tells the story of Baltimore's inhabitants, from drug dealers to cops and everyone connected. A brilliant but damning indictment of failure of social institutions such as the schools, the unions and the government.
Crime, drug trafficking, corruption and general societal breakdown. These problems are endemic in Baltimore. But they plague all major cities in the US. The show is not bias towards the good guys, nor is it apologetic to the drug dealers either. It tells it like it is. There are smart dealers and dumb cops. Humane criminals and greedy politicians. No one is spared and everyone is drawn in shades of gray and the major characters that appear in all five seasons have character developments to kill for. But I love all the broken flawed people in the show since they are believable and real. Do yourself a favor and check out the show. Season one to four are on DVD. If you hate television and want something that challenges your mind. Go watch. Now.

First!
This is my first post. I am planning to put up cartoons, pictures and general thoughts. I want to use the blog as a platform to create something for myself. I get restless and bored too easily. So I thought I might as well create something. I think it was Connie Willis, a fantastic science fiction writer, who said that if you are stuck for inspiration, write about something that you are angry about. So there will be occasional, alright, frequent rants. More soon!
